WEST'S 2017/18 campaign ended with a loss after Ryhope rattled in three goals in the final 11 minutes last night (Monday).

It was West who made the early running and took the lead in the 22nd minute.

Prolific striker Nathan Fisher this time turned provider when he beat his defender on the right and set up Anthony Bell to slot home.

On 36 minutes, West were forced into a substitution, Lewis Dodds coming on for Michael McKeown, who suffered a groin strain.

As the game wore on, it looked as though West might claim the points – but all that changed in the final ten minutes or so.

Firstly, a powerful shot from James Ellis brought the sides level on 79 minutes and then with just three minutes remaining, Micky Rae's effort from inside the area proved too hot for Shane Bland in the West goal, despite getting a hand to the ball.

Then in the 90thminute, Ellis burst into the area and hit home to secure the points.

West currently sit third in the division one table, but both Shildon and Sunderland RCA could finish above them if they win their two remaining games.

On Friday (May 4), the club will host its presentation evening in the clubhouse – 7.30pm, with a race night, quiz and hot food. Admission is free.
