RACING AHEAD: Evenwood’s John Henry Nicholson, from Evenwood, leads the way in one of last year’s harness races at Binchester

TEESDALE’s top harness racing horses and drivers will be battling it out on Sunday – and the pressure is on to break the record for the fastest mile on grass.

This is the third year the race meeting has been held at Binchester. Momentum for the event continues to build as more are attracted to the races.

The event is organised by the Evenwood Racing Committee.

As well as more than ten top class horse races on the day, six of the top harness racing horses in the country will attempt to break the record for the fastest mile on grass at the track at Binchester, near the Roman Fort.

For anyone looking for something different and a fun family day out, the first race starts at 2pm.

There will be a beer tent and bookmakers and kids enter free.

The venue postcode is DL14 8DH.

Everyone is welcome to come along.
