TOFT Hill Three Tuns wrapped up the second division title on Sunday morning with two games to spare.

Goals from Matthew Tyrie and Andrew Boyes secured the three points needed in a 2-0 win away to Newton Aycliffe Sports.

Toft Hill have won 20 of their 24 games played so far, drawing two and losing only twice.

Staindrop maintained their claims for third spot in the league with a heard fought 1-1 draw at home to Newton Aycliffe Gretna. Sam Hicks was on target for the dale side.

Staindrop have one remaining game and are five points ahead of fourth placed Gainford, who slipped to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Darlington RA.

Symon Wrangham and Robert Vayro scored the goals for Gainford, who have the chance to get their hands on some silverware later this week.

Gainford take on Newton Aycliffe Big Club in the division two cup final on Friday evening (April 26).

The match takes place at Willington FC’s ground, with kick-off at 6.45pm.

Big Club are one of four teams which have resigned from the Sunday morning league next season.

The others are fellow second division side BA Snooker and Kirk Merrington Half Moon, along with first division West Auckland Tunns.
