A NUMBER of seniors and juniors competed in the Pitstop Running Festival at Croft Motor Circuit.

There were three races – 10k, 5k and a 2k junior run. It was a new first for the club as runners did the double – John Clifford winning the 10k and Gary Atkinson the 5k.

Gary’s 5k winning time was 17.59mins with John crossing the line in the 10k in 33.47.

Also running the 10k were Alistair Fisher 39.26; Keith Hatton 51.38; Chris Anderson 56.63; Ian Scott 58.22 and Marie Chamberlain 69.37.

In the 2k event, a number of the juniors took part with Adam Laverick finishing in 7.20mins. Other times were: Beth Foster 7.46; Thea Fletcher 7.55; Dylan Cook 8.04; Amy Hardhaker 9.27; Grace Anderson 9.50; Ellie Rhodes 9.59; Millie Townsend 11.32; Ethan Cook 11.55 and Lucy Hardhaker 12.04.

On Saturday, Maddy Fisher travelled North to run the tough fell race the Chevy Chase 20 miles.

Kirsty Brien was also running Saturday, tackling the Borrowdale 13k train race. She finished sixth in her age category and 21st female in a time of 1.30.28.

On Sunday, four runners took part in the Great North 10k run at Gateshead. John Clifford, continuing his fine form, finished third in 34.2. Matthew Rudd came home in 55.07 with Gail Richards running 62.16 and Jim Morrell 67.53.
