TRAINING is under way for the Great North Run in September.

Fiona Turnbull galvanised the troops on Sunday, July 24, for a ten mile run starting at Tan Hill and finishing in Bowes.

Fiona, Caroline Hamilton, Dave Raymond, Henry Turnbull, Joanne Wall and Karen Watson tackled the mixed terrain and challenging route.

They were joined by Amanda Pettitt, Barbara Crawley, Sean Williams and Judith Rodwell along the way.

Keeping the Great North theme, on a Sunday, July 3, the Mounter family took part in the Great North 10K race in Newcastle.

With a new route this year, dubbed '”I love the Tyne”, the race started at the Baltic, in Gateshead, crossing the Swing Bridge to follow the river up to the Newcastle Business Park then looping back to the bridge to cross and follow the river up on the Gateshead side.

Another loop back at 8K returned the runners to the Baltic to cross the finish line.

Steven was first to finish in 71.28mins, followed by Andrew in 71.39 and Alison in 71.40.

Teesdale Athletic Club is a small, friendly running club which caters for all levels and abilities.

Training sessions take place at 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, along with social runs and a race calendar.
