FOUR members of Teesdale Gun Club recently attended and passed the Lantra technical award in shotgun coaching.

The course was held at the club’s shooting ground.

The club’s Tony Brittain said: “Shotguns are popular firearms in both the commercial and recreational spheres especially in the upper Teesdale area.

“As to be expected, the safe and responsible handling of such a shotgun is paramount.

“The course focused on the key training techniques required to pass on that vital knowledge.”

The course covered topics including safe shotgun handling (shotgun coaching); understanding shotgun performance; cleaning and maintenance; basic health and safety; shotgun use and wider safety considerations related to the coaching process practical assessments.
