THINKING CAPS ON: Brownies, Guides and Ranges took part in a host of activities to celebrate World Thinking Day

RAINBOWS, Brownies, Guides and Rangers from Barnard Castle, Staindrop and Middleton joined together to celebrate World Thinking Day.

Kerry Willsmore, Barnard Castle Guide leader, explained: “We’re part of a bigger movement, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and World Thinking Day is a chance for us to connect with ten million Girl Guides and Scouts across the globe – and to shout about the amazing things we do.”

The girls enjoyed travelling around the world on Sunday, February 25, with different activities from each continent. They made drums and boomerangs along with newspaper sculptures of iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Stonehenge.

They also tried their hand at anime drawing, which originates in Japan.

Ms Willsmore added: “If you have a girl aged four to 18 who would be interested or if you are an adult keen to support our local groups, we would be pleased to hear from you.”
