RESIDENTS from upper Teesdale got to see what is on offer in a dale community when more than 17 clubs, groups and associations came together at an annual forum at Middleton-in-Teesdale last week.

It is the second year the event, organised by the parish council at the village hall on Tuesday, May 7, has been held and it was deemed a “great success”.

Representatives from the Scouts, WI, Altogether Archaeology, Upper Teesdale Botany Group, Chaotic Crafters, upper Teesdale churches, the tourist information office plus volunteers from Christmas Lights, Utass and the Fitzhugh Library chatted to people from the community during the evening.

Most organisations had stalls with information highlighting the work they do in the community. Members of Middleton and Teesdale Silver Band were also present as well as members of fitness clubs.

About 45 residents attended the forum, which was followed by the parish’s annual meeting. Chairman of the parish council Cllr Andy Mitchell said: “We held the event for the first time last year and it was a great opportunity for people to find out what is on offer in the area. We decided to run the event again this year as it was so successful last year bringing together all the clubs, organisations and groups under one roof. It just shows what a great place Middleton-in-Teesdale is and what a vibrant place we live in.”
