PUPILS from a dale primary school are collectively crossing the length of the UK to raise cash for IT kit.
Organised by the Friends of St Mary’s School group, the challenge saw as many
as 40 children cycling, walking or running during the half term holiday to cover a joint 837 miles.
Friends member Emma Sutherst said: “We have encouraged all the children from the school to get involved and just do the miles they feel they can do.
“Up to now we have walked 567 miles out of the 837 miles we need to do.”
Some of the top athletes taking part include Kornel Devlin with covered 61.5 miles, Chloe Collins who completed 30 miles and Jessica Lewin who finished 28.7 miles.
Mrs Sutherst’s six-year-old son, Jack, covered 20 miles during the week and was helped along by his mum,
dad Dan and older brother Joshua.
Sponsorship money is still being collected by the group which hopes to raise £3,000 towards new iPads and laptops for the primary school.
