BARNARD Castle Police have welcomed a new member.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Preet Singh has hit the streets for the first time as he joins the current team at the emergency services hub in Wilson Street.

The 31–year-old has previously worked in Darlington, both as a PCSO and PC, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the dales.

PCSO Singh said: “I am looking forward to getting acquainted with my patch. I know there will be different challenges here and I’m excited to meet everyone and help solve local problems.”

He will support frontline policing and help to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. Duties could include house-to-house enquiries, providing members of the public with crime prevention advice and gathering intelligence.

Insp Ed Turner said: “I am delighted to welcome him to Teesdale. He is a very capable PCSO and will be a huge asset, bringing fresh ideas and a variety of skills.”
