ARTIST APPEAL: Dale publican Jamie Kidd is looking for artistic inspiration to decorate this beer garden wall.

A DALE publican is hoping to find Barney’s equivalent of Banksy to help decorate part of his pub’s beer garden.

Jamie Kidd runs both the Firkin Alley micro-pub, in Horsemarket and the Redwell Inn, in Harmire Road, with his partner Nicola Taylor. Since taking over the micro-bar in August, the couple say they have been overwhelmed by its popularity and want to brighten up the “drab” yard outside.

Mr Kidd said: “We are hoping to find a local artist who can help us transform the space. We’re not necessarily looking for a graffiti artist, but it would be great to think we had another Banksy somewhere in Barnard Castle.

“We just want to make it an interesting feature. It’s a large wall and would look great with a mural of some kind.”

The Firkin was founded by Caldwell-based Ryan and Ali Stones in 2016. It offers real ale drinkers a cosy environment in which to sup a wide variety of craft beers and ciders.

Anyone who would be interested can get in touch either by calling in or via the Firkin’s social media page.
