A COVID-secure Halloween trail will provide some spooky family fun later this month.
It takes place at the TCR Hub, in Shaw Bank, Barnard Castle at half term.
Artists Holly Scott and Suzanne Williams have teamed up with The Hub’s volunteers to create a trail that will include a giant spider, some flying bats, a potion lab for witches and much more.
Admission to the trail will be hourly from 10am to 3pm and booking is essential in order to manage numbers and ensure track and trace is observed.
A maximum of just four families will be admitted each hour on a first come, first enter order at five minute intervals and those taking part will be expected to observe social distancing while enjoying the trail.
It is one way with a creative Halloween trail map available on entry with arrows throughout the route.
Families are asked to come prepared for any weather and also with the understanding that they may have up to a 15 minute wait to enter the grounds if all four families arrive at the same time.
Sarah Gent, family activities co-ordinator at The Hub, said: “This is an exciting chance for families to come and enjoy some spooky fun this Halloween.
“We are living in such an unusual time and we are passionate about enabling families to enjoy some festive treats together.
“Fancy dress is encouraged – so grab your broom, book your tickets and let’s get spooky together this Halloween.”
Ms Gent is also getting in touch with primary schools to invite pupils to create witches’ potions and decorate skeleton masks as part of a Mexican Day of the Dead scene that is to be placed in the outdoor performance space.
“The children of Teesdale are wonderfully creative and we can’t wait to see what they come up with,” she said.
“We will be displaying the potions in the atrium so families can enjoy them and the skeletons will become part of the display that you can enjoy as you do around the trail.”
There are free spaces available for those who have been recipients of The Hub’s Family Care Packages to enable everyone to access this, no matter their circumstances.
Tickets are available for £5 per family of up to six people who are from the same household and includes a Halloween treat bag for each child including stickers, sweeties and a make-at-home craft activity.
Children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Tickets are available on TCR Hub website: www.tcrhub.co.uk/ whats-on/ as well as on Facebook at www. facebook.com/TCRHub.
The Halloween trail runs at The Hub this half-term on Saturday, October 24, and then from Wednesday, October 28, to Saturday, October 31. Slots for school bubbles are available on Thursday, October 22, and Friday October 23.
