CLOSE CALL: Bowes Club B were runners up in the team knockout finals

TEESDALE’S 5s and 3s dominoes league completed their first full season since the pandemic began, finishing with knockout games during a presentation evening at Barnard Castle’s Cricket Club.
League committee member Gillian Watson said: “It’s the first time we have done the knockouts in a couple of years because of Covid. Safety of residents has been the priority for us, but we have managed to play the league since September. Presentation night is later than we would normally have, but there has been a lot of postponed matches due to Covid and it has been fitting it all in.”
She added some players were still concerned about mixing socially, but there is still an appetite to play the game, which is hailed for supporting local pubs on quiet winter evenings, with 21 teams competing within the league.
