TORY HOPE: Dehenna Davison Fareham will stand for Bishop Auckland seat

THE Conservative Party has selected its parliamentary candidate for the Bishop Auckland constituency.

The last Tory candidate Chris Adams lost to Helen Goodman in last year’s general election by 502 votes.

Mr Adams will not stand again for the seat next time.

Dehenna Davison Fareham has instead been selected as the Conservative candidate.

Ms Davison Fareham, who works in local government, was selected by members of the Bishop Auckland Conservative Association.

A former parliamentary candidate in neighbouring Sedgefield and in Hull North, Dehenna will campaign to

become the first-ever Conservative MP for Bishop Auckland.

Her campaign will focus on revitalising high streets and economic growth, enhancing education and skills, and improving internet connectivity across the constituency.

“I am delighted to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Bishop Auckland,” she added..

“I was brought up in a northern city, and taught the value of aspiration, that you can achieve anything if you’re willing to work hard for it.

“This is a view I know is shared by people in the beautiful towns and villages across the Bishop Auckland constituency.

“With such a rich cultural history and heritage, I want to help grow the area’s reputation on the national and international stages.

“Labour have had their chance in the North East.”
