NEIGHBOURING charity shops in the centre of Barnard Castle have welcomed new managers.

Sue Littlefair has taken on the Mind shop, in Market Place, while Naila Laundy is the new manager at Oxfam, in Horsemarket.

Ms Littlefair, who lives in the town, said it was the first time she had worked in the charity sector, but had worked in retail throughout her career.

Ms Laundy has previously worked for Oxfam, running the charity's shop when she lived in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Also from the town, she has worked for the Co-op in Barney and Cockfield.

Both managers said they were delighted to tackle the challenges thrown up by their new posts – and both would welcome new volunteers.

Anyone interested in volunteering can call into the shops.
