A PINK-themed vintage tea party in Barnard Castle raised more than £400 for charity.

The public party was hosted by King’s Court Care Home to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Day, in aid of Breast Cancer Research.

Staff, residents, family and friends joined in the fun with games, a raffle and lots of treats. Donations at the end of the day totalled £408.60.

Organisers at the care home thanked everyone for their support.

Lifestyle co-ordinator, Charlotte Weddell, said: “It has been really good. We have had a really good turn out. One of our carers has been diagnosed with breast cancer so it is a charity that is close to our hearts.”

Ben Tinkler, from County Durham Wellbeing For Life, also attended the party to give a talk to guests about how to check for signs of breast cancer.
