A MICKLETON woman, who had to put off her 50th birthday celebration because of Covid lockdowns, is instead holding a 1920s night for charity.

Evelyn Walton is inviting everyone to the bash at Barnard Castle’s CroBar on Saturday, May 14, and will be raising cash for the Teesdale branch of Cancer Research UK.

The three-piece jazz band, The Gershwin Gang, will be performing on the night having originally been booked for her 50th birthday.

She said: “The first year we had to cancel because of lockdown and the second year I actually got Covid. I didn’t want to let the band down so I am hosting a fun evening for everyone to come along and put on the glitz and ritz.

“It is an open evening but we will be asking for donations on the door.”

She is also appealing to businesses to support the fundraising event by donating raffle prizes. Businesses can contact Ms Walton at email evieott1971@gmail.com.
