A KURDISH barber shop will be donating its takings from a charity “open day” following the success of a similar event last year.

Dara Omer, Kaywan Abdulah, Hardi Toueeq and Harem Mohamed raised more than £600 for the charity fundraising group, The Clique, when they donated their takings and tips from a day’s trading at their traditional Kurdish barbers shop in Newgate, Barnard Castle, last year.

The barbers arranged the fundraising day last year as a thank you to residents of the town for the warm welcome they had received after moving to the area setting up their business.

They are hoping to raise a similar amount this year when they open for business on Sunday, December 8, offering shaves and haircuts between 10am and 4pm.
