STAFF at a local spa are delighted after being nominated for a national award only weeks after receiving a coveted five bubbles rating.

The Morritt Hotel’s Garage Spa at Greta Bridge, which was opened five years ago after a £1.5 million investment by the previous owners, has just been nominated for Boutique Spa of the year award by the Good Spa Guide, an online guide to everything you need to know about pampering.

The Good Spa Guide regularly sends out ‘spa spies’ to check out facilities and gives ratings in bubbles accordingly.

The Garage Spa, which provides a range of therapies from facials through to Mediterranean candle massages, received the second highest rating available.

Amy Fell, manager of the Garage Spa, said: “We only just received our five bubble rating from the Good Spa guide and this is fantastic news.

“We’re all really delighted and hope our guests will vote for us when the time comes.”

People who want the Garage Spa to win can do so by voting online at the Good Spa Guide.

Voting opens for a month on Monday, October 1, and the winners will be announced at a gala event at Spa Life in Birmingham on November 13.

Jonathan Cairns, manager of the Morritt Hotel, said: “We try to cater for smaller, more exclusive groups at the Garage Spa and only have 16 guests at any time at the spa.

“The award is really great news and testament to the hard work the staff have put in to make the Garage a success.

“Although guests at our hotel do enjoy the facilities we also attract a lot of local customers.”
