STAFF at a local spa are celebrating after winning a national accolade at an awards ceremony held in Birmingham last week.

The Morritt Arms’ Garage Spa, at Greta Bridge, came out tops in this year’s Good Spa Awards winning the Best Boutique Spa ahead 15 other establishments.

It is the eighth year the Good Spa Awards have been run but it is the first time the Garage Spa has been nominated for a national title.

Garage Spa manager Amy Fell and her colleague Pippa Oakley attended the gala ceremony and were “speechless’”when the Garage Spa was announced as the winner.

Nominees for the national award are voted for by the general public and Ms Fell said: “We were nominated a couple of years ago for a regional category, but unfortunately we didn’t win. To get the readers’ choice award is really fantastic. I just don’t know what to say.”

Jonathan Cairns, manager of the Morritt Hotel, said: “We’re all really delighted and this is testament to the hard work everyone has put in to make the spa such a success.

“It’s real reward for the hard work and this is the accolade just goes to show we offer some of the best services and facilities.”
