SELLING UP: Donna Dobson re-opened for business this week with the news she will be moving on in September

A DALE businesswoman is looking forward to being a full-time mum after selling her popular clothing store during lockdown.
Donna Dobson started her business in Market Place, Barnard Castle, 11 years ago, initially naming the business Zara Countrywear after her daughter.
The shop was later rebranded Fox and Field. She has now announced she will be moving on at the end of the summer. Ms Dobson said: “I’m really excited and looking forward to being a full-time mum for a while.
“I’ve missed out on so many different things with Zara and she is growing up so quickly now. I really want to make sure I can go to her hockey matches and go on holiday without having to check dates for the shop.”
She first thought about selling the business five years ago following the death of her grandmother. After listing it for sale and speaking with a few potential buyers, she
didn’t think anything more of it. However, half way through lockdown Ms Dobson was approached by an interested party and were able to negotiate a deal. She added: “I suppose because of lockdown it helped make me realise my life doesn’t revolve around the shop.” Ms Dobson, who reopened for business last week, added the new owner will take over on September 1.
“She’s taken on my autumn stock, but until then I’ll be selling off the existing range at half price, so it gives her a clean slate. I’ve had a great time at the shop and want to say a huge thank you to everyone.”
