NEW VENTURE: Donna Dobson and Debbie Herbert at the shop’s opening

THE former owner of a popular Barnard Castle business did the honours when she opened the shop on its relaunch last week.
Donna Dobson, who founded Fox and Field, cut the ribbon when the renamed business, Wild Daisy, opened to the public.

The new owners, Debbie and Robert Herbert, have taken on the store, which isn't concentrating on countrywear as the previous shop did.
“It's going to be more boutiquey with handbags and jewellery as well as clothing,” said Mrs Herbert.

“I used to work for Lilac Grey Boutique and I decided to give this a go. We're really exited. The town is still busy and we think it's a good time. We had seven or eight people outside yesterday asking when it would open.”

Ms Dobson backed the decision, saying the pandemic would mean more people would shop locally rather than head into a busy city centre. Wild Daisy will initially be open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday.
