BIKE enthusiasts in Barnard Castle can look forward to hassle-free cycling now that a mobile bicycle repair service is in town.

Cycle mechanic Paddy Muir launched his own mobile bicycle repairs and servicing business, Swale Cycles, last summer along with his wife Rachael.

Offering support to cyclists of all levels, Mr Muir, 40, is also now based in a workshop at The Hub in Barnard Castle every Thursday.

The former civil engineer said: “We realised that there was a bit of an opening in Barnard Castle for this kind of work. A lot of our work comes from here. The nearest bike shop is Bishop Auckland. There are lots of different clubs up here too.

“We go where people need us. We don’t expect people to come to us. We work out of hours too.

Alongside fixing bikes and providing cycle event support, they also do mountain bike guiding. Mrs Muir concentrates on the guiding side of the business offering guided cycling in North Yorkshire including ladies only groups.

Mr Muir is available in the workshop at The Hub from 8.30am till 5pm every Thursday.
