MUSIC SCHEME: Pat Baldwin is running a second-hand sheet music scheme in Barnard Castle

DO you read music, sing, or play a musical instrument?
If so, you might like to take advantage of a new second-hand sheet music scheme at St Mary’s Parish Church, Barnard Castle, on a Saturday morning.
Organiser and music teacher Pat Baldwin explained: “Barnard Castle has no music shop. It doesn’t have a music section in its library. By trialling a community second-hand music facility, I hope to provide local music enthusiasts with the opportunity to browse, borrow or buy sheet music.
“At present you will find music for piano, flute, violin, recorder, alto sax, oboe and voice.
“I’m hoping this will expand to include other instruments as music is donated. Contents of a 16 box-file flute and recorder library are also available on request.”
Those wishing to borrow a piece of sheet music can do so for a small fee.
Alternatively it can be bought at a price considers appropriate.
A limited amount of priced unused music is also available. After expenses, money raised will be donated to church funds.
Ms Baldwin added: “If you have musical friends or family there is a wealth of recorder ensemble music – from baroque to 20th century, for intermediate to advanced players. This can be utilised by other concert pitch instrumentalists that use the treble or bass clef. Just drop by and ask what recorder consort music might be appropriate.”
