Musical treats sure to hit the right note
A COUPLE of musical treats are heading to Darlington early next month.
Stars from Les Miserables are performing as The Barricade Boys for a national tour which calles at Darlington Hippodrome on Sunday, May 5.
Then on Friday, May 10, the Johnny Cash Roadshow featuring singer-songwriter Clive John as the country star calls at the Hippodrome to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the man in black’s seminal Live at San Quentin album.
The Barricade Boys not only perform the world’s greatest show tunes, but they also celebrate music from some of the most iconic names in the music industry, from powerful ballads and beautiful operatic arias to some of the best pop, rock and swing numbers of all time.
After sell-out performances in London’s West End, an appearance on Broadway and a host of international dates, the group are once again taking their spectacular live show around the country.
Clive John will perform hits from the album which was released in 1969. Live at San Quentin was the second in a series of albums The Man In Black recorded live at US prisons and contains hits such as A Boy Named Sue, Wanted Man and Jackson.
He said: “We wanted to do something a bit different for 2019 and pay tribute to a fantastic album and ground breaking performance which is a firm favourite among fans.
“Fifty years after its release, At San Quentin is still considered some of Johnny’s best work and we can’t wait to head out and perform it.”
