More gigs on the cards after success of four-band show at Barney venue

MORE gigs could be on the way to a dale venue after a recent show with four bands on the bill was judged a success by performers and fans alike.
The event, at the TCR Hub, Barnard Castle, was headlined by Eddie and the Hotrods and also feature new wave survivors Department S along with local bands Herbal Remedy and About the Humans.
While the stage was set up indoors, the hall's large doors were opened, allowing gig-goers the choice of either getting up close to the bands or enjoying the show from outside.
Promoter Dave Palmer said this split format had worked well and proved popular.
“The feedback from everybody was that this was a good venue and they liked the fact you could open the back doors so people could spread out and chill out as well.
“Some people described the outdoor surroundings as an unexpected bonus and a lovely place to sit outside.”
“Quite a few people who came along said they had never been to The Hub before – they had been passed it plenty of times but never had any reason to go in, so having music has attracted more people to have a look at it.”
All performances were professionally recorded and the gig was videoed as well.
Mr Palmer said that as well as offering recordings and video to all who performed, sound and footage would be used to promote The Hub as a music venue when organising future gigs.
While nothing has been confirmed, Mr Palmer said he was considering organising something for later in the autumn and perhaps an expanded version of the four-band show for next summer.
“We could perhaps have a festival of some sort and get some of the youngsters in to play as well as the bands,” he added.
