LET’S DANCE: The first Rewind Disco proved popular last year

FORGET coronavirus – staff at Barnard Castle’s arts centre hope revellers have nothing more than disco fever on their minds later in the year.
The Witham was due to host a repeat of The Rewind Disco this spring after the event proved such a success last year.
However, with the centre currently closed the disco has been rearranged for Saturday, October 3, and those planning to go can hep shape DJ Andrew Nicholson’s playlist.
The Witham’s Sarah Gent said: “Visit The Witham’s Facebook page and add your suggestions of songs that you would most like to dance to when we are able to get back together and celebrate our amazing community. It’s a difficult time and we are working to try and raise people’s spirits by planning in events for once this crisis is over.”
Tickets for the rescheduled Rewind Disco are available now at www.thewitham.org. uk.
Despite the doors being closed for the time being, some of The Witham's team are working from home.
They are sharing regular updates about what arts activities and entertainment people can access online, from the National Theatre at Home screenings to Yolo Pilates classes. The Witham’s weekly newsletter offers a helpful summary of what's available and also includes links to trusted mental health and well-being organisations for advice and support.
Ms Gent added: “It’s amazing what people are offering online for free – from Oti Mabuse’s dance classes, Gareth Malone’s Great British Choir to our very own Wiggles and Wobbles, the music and movement group that usually meets at The Witham on a Thursday morning.
“There is now a wealth of entertainment available at your fingertips. It isn’t the same as seeing people and sharing experiences but it helps in the interim.”
