STAINDROP BOUND: Comedian Gavin Webster is heading to Teesdale as part of a 30-date tour

CULT Geordie comedian of over 25 years Gavin Webster has included a visit to Staindrop in a 30-date tour of venues all within travelling distance of his home city.

An influential figure on the stand up scene on Tyneside he will bring his guitar, ukulele, book of poetry and barrow load of quick fire jokes and surreal routines along with his furious rants when he takes to the stage at the Scarth Hall on Saturday, October 13.

The show is described by the comedy website Chortle as “a show that’s no nonsense yet simultaneously full of it, he’s like a comedy street fighter, he’ll use anything at hand to land a blow”.

Gavin Webster also made a guest appearance at the last Funny Way To Be Comedy show in Barnard Castle.

Promoter Peter Dixon of the Teesdale comedy club explained: “There was a last minute change of plan for out Simon Evans show and Gavin kindly stepped in to do a support spot for his old friend.

“Gavin was a huge success with the packed audience at The Witham, which was a great taster of things to come in Staindrop.”

Mr Dixon added: “Gavin is an extremely funny comic and one of the most respected acts to come out of the North East. We are delighted to bring his full show to Teesdale.”

Tickets for the show are £12 and are available from www.funnywaytobe.com or Staindrop Post Office.
