TUNING UP: Mr Wilson’s Second Liners are always a big hit at BRASS and are preparing exclusive content for the online festival

DURHAM’S popular brass festival is moving online to ensure fans don’t miss out this year.
The annual music extravaganza was due to take place between July 10 and 19, but inevitably fell victim to the covid-19 alert. Organisers at Durham County Council have come up with BRASS Online 2020, from Monday, July 13 to Saturday, July 18, via www. brassfestival.co.uk.
The online festival will feature many favourites from around the world, including interactive and entertaining workshops hosted by the likes of Spanish amigos Artistas Del Gremio, Mouv ‘n’ Brass, from France, and the UK’s own Backchat Brass.
There will also be special lockdown performances from more favourites, including Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, who have come up with some exclusive content for the event.
The festival has also teamed up with the volunteer-run cinema co-operative Star and Shadow, in Newcastle, to broadcast two shows from 7pm to 9pm on Monday, July 13, and Friday, July 17, celebrating the tradition and diversity of brass music.
To bring the online festival to a close five of the festival’s favourite street bands will perform together online, with a backdrop of footage from previous years.
