ABOUT 30 members of Barnard Castle and Teesdale Art Society have come together to produce their annual month-long exhibition at The Witham.

The exhibition, titled Our Teesdale, is an eclectic mix of artistic mediums with water colour, acrylic, oil, pencil, felt and collage work and ink drawings providing an insight into each artist’s view of the dale.

Christine Hartas, chairwoman, said the theme for this year’s exhibition had produced a varied display.

She said: “It’s given us all a real insight into each other’s perspective of the dale and we have all learned a little more about each other.”

In addition to landscapes featuring well-known Teesdale panoramas there are unusual collages, one of which features imagery from the society’s founder, Douglas Pittuck, pen and ink drawings of native sheep, woodland scenes as well as felt carefully crafted into colourful flora.

The exhibition will run until Saturday, March 23, and admission is free. Visitors will be invited to vote for their favourite exhibit.

The art society, which was founded 67 years ago, meets Monday afternoons at Barnard Castle Guide Hall on Birch Road between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
