ART and craft lovers are in for a treat during the bank holiday weekend with two fairs and a car boot sale on the cards at Cotherstone and Mickleton.

At Cotherstone, people can visit the village hall where Whorlton artist Jane Young and members of her three art and craft classes are hosting a three-day exhibitions starting on Saturday, August 25.

This follows on from a successful inaugural event last year.

Ms Young said: “We had loads of passers-by coming in for tea, coffee, cakes and scones. It was really good and that is why we are doing it again.”

Two of the artists taking part in the fair work as professionals in the dale and are members of Teesdale ArtNet.

All told, 14 artists and crafters from her classes in Whorlton, Staindrop and Barnard Castle will be participating. The fair runs from 10am to 4pm each day and entry is free.

Meanwhile, at Mickleton, Thwaite Hall is hosting a car boot sale on bank holiday Monday, August 27. Proceeds from the event go to Startforth church and sellers arrive from 7am.

Another “pop up” art and craft fair will take place at Mickleton Village Hall, also starting on Saturday, August 25 and running until Monday, August 27 from 11am to 4pm.
