Cookery course’s dishes of the day
Feb 19, 2003
WHAT better way to mark the end of a successful cookery course, than to serve a scrumptious celebration meal?
That’s what 20 local older people did on Monday, at the end of their five-week “healthy cooking on a budget” course at St Mary’s Parish Church Hall in Barnard Castle.
The course has been organised by Age Concern Durham County with help from the Durham Rural Community Council, and Helen Lowes, tutor, is pictured with some of the cooks and the special meal they prepared. And too prove that too many cooks don’t spoil the broth, a tasty tomato soup was one of the dishes of the day.
Another course starts at Woodland Village Hall on Tuesday, February 25, said co-ordinator Mo Dobbie, who was also on hand – but too shy to be in the photo!
