Gainford man charged over death of baby son

Jan 27, 2012

A man has this afternoon been charged with killing his baby son in Gainford last February.
Five-month-old Charlee Cameron Clark was admitted to Darlington Memorial Hospital with serious head injuries on February 25, 2011.
The infant, who lived with his parents in Neville Close in Gainford was then transferred to a specialist unit at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary. However, he died from his injuries the following Tuesday.
Police arrested a 26-year-old Gainford man on suspicion of murder and after interviewing him he was released on police bail while enquiries continued.
This morning, the suspect – Lee Clark who is now aged 27 - answered his bail at Durham city police station. A short time ago he was charged with Charlee's manslaughter and will appear before magistrates at Peterlee tomorrow morning.
