Chloe looking for love on prime time TV hit
Jan 26, 2012
A STAINDROP girl has turned her back on Teesdale talent in a bid to find a date on TV’s most popular dating show.
Chloe Hole, 21, is one of the contestants on ITV’s Saturday night hit Take Me Out where host Paddy McGuinness attempts to find dates for a group of 30 single women.
Each week three men try to win a date with one of the women – but if the feisty females don’t like what they see, they can turn off their podium lights, a move which has created the show’s catchphrase ‘no likey, no lighty’.
Chloe, a psychology graduate from Northumbria University, said she loved being part of Take Me Out and was quick to dispel a myth, published by the Sun newspaper, that competitors had taken part in a wild sex party.
Chloe watched the opening episode with all of the other contestants who appear on the show at a mansion in Chepstow.
She said; “The Sun claimed that the contestants then trashed the £4.5million property and ‘ran amok’ at what developed into a ‘wild sex and drugs party’.”
But Chloe laughed off the claims. She said: “It was just a party. Yeah, we had a few glasses of wine but that was it. My dad read the story and I had to say, ‘dad, it was nothing like that’, it’s crazy.”
The outreach worker spent two weeks filming for Take Me Out, a tough schedule that consisted of 12 hours filming just one episode a day.
She will be on our screens for the next few weeks but is staying tight lipped over whether she found love on the show.
“People will have to watch to find out,” she said.
On the first show of the series Chloe caught viewers’ eyes as she made it through to the final two for a potential date on the mythical “Isle of Fernando’s” where all couples holiday after the show.
But Chloe’s bid for a date with Adam, a Navy officer from Middlesbrough, was scuppered at the last minute when he chose another girl. And last weekend saw her make it to the final two to win a date with music producer Jermaine but unlucky in love Chloe was once more pipped at the final post.
Chloe, who lives with her mum, dad and two younger brothers in Staindrop, said: “I went in it purely for a laugh but I have made some good friends there. In fact I’d probably say I’d made lifelong friends.
“I’ve never done anything like this before.I
“In fact I’m quite shy but I just thought I’d go for it.
She had arrived back in the UK from Africa just two days before filming started in November, and said she loved the whole experience.
“It was nerve wracking – your heart’s really pounding but Paddy does make you feel relaxed.
“He’s lovely. You can just have a crack with him. He’s just like what he seems on the TV.
“I met Mark Wright (from The Only Way is Essex – who is hosting the programme’s sister show on ITV2) too. It was crazy.
“He’s just like he is on TV but he did seem a bit nervous.
“We filmed one programme a day, it took that long with rehearsals and everything. It was manic backstage, with 35 girls all getting ready at once.
“We would have our hair and make-up done three times a day. It felt like you were pampered all day long.”
Take Me Out is broadcast on ITV1 on Saturday nights at 7.15pm with sister show The Gossip following at 8.30pm on ITV2.
