Another black week on roads

A ROAD accident involving three vehicles on the A67, near Gainford, left one man dead and two other people seriously injured.
The accident took place just outside Gainford, towards Winston, at about 12.40pm on Saturday.
The driver of a Nissan Micra, 43 year-old Richard David Jameson, from the Richmond area, was certified dead at the scene.
The front-seat passenger in the car, a 42 year-old lady, also from the Richmond area, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital, with injuries to the sternum and spine. Her condition was described as poorly.
A 37 year-old woman from Staindrop, driving a Toyota MR2, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with a broken pelvis, in a poorly condition. There were no injuries to the driver of a Ford Focus, a 55 year-old man from Barnard Castle.
