A PAIR of elderly cats who were made homeless last summer have finally found themselves a new home with plenty of laps to curl up on.
Smooch and Tigger, who are brothers, have been living in temporary accommodation at Ark on the Edge rescue centre in Woodland since October have been give a new home at Kings Court Care Home in Barnard Castle.
Pat Kingsnorth, who runs the rescue centre, said: "At Ark on the Edge we not only rescue animals ourselves but working in conjunction with the Blue Cross, we rehome cats for them as well.
“Smoochie and Tigger were just two of the cats which came in through the Blue Cross here at Ark on the Edge. Their stay has been a little longer than most, but with loving care and attention, and after a house check which is routine for both Blue Cross and Ark on the Edge, it was really great news to hear that Kings Court Care Home would take them on.
“And from this one enquiry, Ark on the Edge also rehomed one of their own rescue cats and two young house rabbits, so from just one call you never know what else could happen.”
Jules Coulthard from King’s Court said: “Me and Pat Cuthbert, who lives here, went along to see the cats at Ark on the Edge and we saw them and adopted them both.
“They are really well looked after here and they get really spoilt.”
Pat Cuthbert said: “They are settling in. It’s lovely to have them here, it takes your mind off other things.”
Ms Kingsnorth said she is still looking for homes for another three elderly cats – Bubble, Squeak and Morristy – who have been living with her for several months.
She said: “We are still in great need of homes for three Blue Cross cats to go together. They too have been here quite a while and we are desperate to find them a loving home. Maybe there is another care home out there who would consider taking these very loving cats on, with plenty of strokes and laps to sit on.
“Ark on the Edge also has need of a home for two (white with black and white with grey four-year-old brothers who need a home with plenty of room to roam in fields and away from roads, and they have been here a while as well.
