Prayers answered with perfect day for carnival

MIDDLETON’s prayers were answered on Saturday when the rain finally stopped to allow a perfect day for their carnival.“It’s been wonderful today,” said June Kneller, the carnival committee’s press secretary. “I was so happy when I woke up this morning. On Friday, I could have cried.”
The carnival procession returned to its original route, after having to be changed because of Foot and Mouth restrictions last year.
“There’s a lot more people compared to last year,” said Mrs Kneller. “It’s good to see that things worked smoothly despite the restrictions from the police.”
