Body found in river may be missing man

Jun 19, 2008

THE body of a man found in the River Tees may be that of a care worker missing since January.

Michael Hunter, 53, from Darlington, had been sighted at Low Force in upper Teesdale after disappearing on January 24, the day of his mother's funeral.

Police said an angler found the man's body in a stretch of river between Darlington and Croft on Wednesday.

A spokesman said although no formal identification had been made yet, Mr Hunter's family had been informed.
