English Nature aword comes to Teesdale

KATH and Maurice Toward have been awarded by English Nature for their outstanding management of the pastures and meadows at Herdship Farm in the SSSI in Upper Teesdale.





The SSSI Award 2001 was presented by Sir Don Curry, chairman of the Food and Farming Commission, at a lunch at the Belgrave Hall as part of the Royal Show. Also present was English Nature chairman, Sir Martin Doughty, who presented the couple with a book showing other spectacular areas of English SSSI sites. For more details, see the farm

In a busy week, Maurice has also been filming with BBC presenter, Chris Beardshaw, The Flying Gardener, whose team has been staying at the Morritt Arms, Greta Bridge. Another garden, further down the dale, has also been filmed.
