Husband and wife injured in A66 accident

Jun 10, 2008

A HUSBAND and wife were rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning after the caravan they were towing tipped over on the A66.

The caravan is believed to have overturned after it was overtaken by a passing lorry.

The couple were travelling back to Nottingham with their pet dog when the accident happened at about 10.15am.

A police spokesman said both sides of the A66 were closed off while officers dealt with the incident.

The air ambulance was scrambled, but was not needed at the scene as the injuries were not as serious as first thought, the spokesman added.

Any witnesses are being asked to call Barnard Castle Police on 0845 60 60 365 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
