Tories take their seats at County Hall

TEESDALE'S Tories have been allocated their committee positions on Durham County Council for the coming 12 months.

Following May's local elections, five Conservative Party representatives were returned from Teesdale - half the total number of the new-look county council.

Cllr Richard Bell will serve on the county's highways, corporate scrutiny and health scrutiny committees as well as the fire authority.

Cllr Jo Fergus' remit will cover chief officer appointments, the overview and scrutiny management committee, planning and she will also sit on the fire authority.

Cllr Barbara Harrison's responsibilities will include human resources, communities, overview and scrutiny and economy overview and scrutiny.

Cllr Stephen Hugill will take his place on the highways, licensing and economy overview and scrutiny committees.

Finally, from the dale, Cllr George Richardson will sit on corporate parent, planning, environment overview and scrutiny and appeals and complaints committees.
