Environmental health officials called to deal with dead sheep

May 28, 2008

ENVIRONMENTAL health officials from Teesdale District Council were called to deal with a group of dead sheep which were discovered lying next to a wall.

The grim discovery was made by a dale resident who was returning from a shopping trip to Bishop Auckland.

The dead animals were found dumped next to a wall on the B6279 as it leaves Staindrop heading towards Kinninvie.

A spokeswoman for Teesdale District Council confirmed the matter was being dealt with by environmental health officers, who had been out to assess the situation.

The resident who reported the incident, who asked not to be named, said: "I was disgusted and disheartened that this has been happening, especially after foot and mouth."
