TWO men were arrested last Friday on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs following a raid on two addresses in Barnard Castle.
The men, aged 27 and 38, were taken from their homes in the town after police discovered quantities of what they believe to be cocaine, along with other drug paraphernalia.
Both men have been bailed while police make further enquiries.
In support of the same operation, police also visited several town centre pubs on Saturday, with a sniffer dog, to establish any drug use.
As a result, several people were stopped and searched.
Sgt Ed Turner, of Barnard Castle Police, hailed the operation a success.
"Valuable intelligence has been gleaned from the operation and we don't tolerate drug use in the town. We enjoy the support of Pubwatch which has been crucial in this investigation.
"Barnard Castle isn't unique in this situation - all market towns have problems with drugs and we want to work with people so we can respond to it."
Anyone with any information can call the police on 0845 60 60 365 or Crimestoppers on 0800 55 11.
