HUNDREDS of athletes of all ages gathered at Raby Castle, near Staindrop, on Sunday.
They were there to compete in the annual Raby Castle 10k and 5k runs organised by
Teesdale Athletic Club.
First home in the 10k was Martin Scaife, 36, of North
York Moors AC in a new course record time of 32 min 14 sec. First woman was Carolyn
Summersgill from Middlesbrough & Cleveland AC with a time of
38 min 35 sec.
First Teesdale AC member home was Russell Collins, in 38 min 36 sec.
First Teesdale AC woman to finish was Denise Tunstall in a time of
50 min 31 sec.
First Evenwood Road Runner to finish was Alan Morton
in 52 min 33 sec. First female Evenwood Road Runner was 16-year-old Sarah
Douthwaite in 53min 06sec.
In the 5k fun run, Teesdale AC had eight junior runners in the
top 30. Greg Ritchie of Jarrow & Hebburn AC came in first in 18:32.
Fifth-placed Ross Langdon, 14, was first Teesdale AC member home in the 5k, in a time of 21.19.
First Teesdale AC girl was nine-year-old Megan Ilona Daniels in 29.48.
