Eggleston carnival fun
Jun 26, 2002
THERE was an excellent response from villagers at
Eggleston who turned out in force on Saturday to take part in and support Eggleston Carnival.
Many of them had come in fancy dress, for the long walk down to the village green from the Moorcock Inn, including a gorilla, Britannia and the Queen of Hearts, accompanied by the Fishburn Band.
Dave Smith, the carnival chairman, dressed for the day as a Big Baby, said:"The weather has held off, and I¹m very pleased to see so many people here."
The village green was packed with many stalls and sideshows, including a barbecue, tombola and Punch and Judy show; teas were served in the village hall and with two bouncy castles and races afterwards, there was plenty for the youngsters to expend their energy on!
The fancy dress was judged by Coun Peter Stubbs, who mentioned how pleased he was to see the dale getting back to normal after last year.
