THE Georgian Theatre Royal Youth Theatre staged two productions over the course of four days the first production was Gel! A musical by Malcolm Sircom, set in Meadowlands Youth Theatre where a group rehearsing their latest production, come into problems with other local children who try to disrupt the show. It doesn't take long for the stage to be filled with energy and enthusiasm from the young cast. There are some strong individual performances, but what makes this production standout is the obvious teamwork involved in all areas of the production from program design to cast and crew. The second production was of that well loved classic Alice in Wonderland. First night nerves did get to a few members of the cast as they looked around anxiously to see if it should be them speaking, but that didn't detract from the quality of the production. There were so many short, well thought out, scenes that it was easy to forget how young the cast were as they brought there own style to the production. Five different girls played Alice, bringing their own individual qualities to each of the scenes. Towards the end The Queen of Hearts certainly made her presence felt and she looked as she was loving every minute of it.
If you have never seen The Georgian Theatre Royal Youth Theatre perform before then look out for their next production, you will not be disappointed.
