THERE is only one word which can be used to describe Lord of the Dance, which was created by Michael Flatley, and that is mesmerising. From start to finish you will be transfixed by the skill of these dancers.
The story within the show is simple it is good versus evil. A little spirit tries to help The Lord of The Dance protect his people from The Dark Lord. The story though is not that important, it is merely a vehicle for the dancing and singing.
The speed of the show varies with some slow singing sections and then of course the rapid Irish dancing. The highlights for me were the evil dancers' routines these were fast and furious and of course the finale.
The theatrics were impressive with the loud bangs and flashes of light into the audience. My ears have just about recovered from the sounds on stage, which echoed around the auditorium and the whistles of appreciation from the audience.
I never fail to be impressed with the skill of Irish dancing and this was the highest quality I have ever seen.
Lord of the Dance can be seen at Sunderland Empire until Sunday 18th October.
