Car Parking & Street Mess in Barnard Castle

Having read the correspondence about parking in Newgate I today parked in the excellent Hole in the Wall car park, there were ample spaces and at £1.00 for four hours good value, I wonder how long it will remain with vacant spaces when the Newgate entrance opens.
I also read with interest Cllr John Watson's comments on the state of the town with persons urinating etc in the streets and alleyways. Wasn't Cllr Watson a member of the now defunct Teesdale District Council, which closed the Market Place toilets which whilst not preventing such conduct, might have gone some way to allieviating the problems he now highlights.
