ROMALDKIRK DOGS

Percival Turnbull
25 May 2008
Your correspondent who complained of a visit to Romaldkirk being spoiled by the constant barking of a dog may be comforted to know that this is something of a local tradition: the traveller and diarist John Byng who passed through there in 1792 remarked 'Though often complained of, yet I think that I was more harassed in this village by barking curs than ever I remember'.
Yours,
Percival Turnbull
