Middleton in Teesdale Farmer's Market

Having recently taken over the Country Style Bakery in Middleton, and having been told how popular the monthly Farmer's Market was, we opened especially for the market at considerable expense in staff. To our surprise we find that the stalls were now only on the car park, rather than spread amongst the the village with some stalls close to the Mercury offices as we believe was the normal tradition.
Granted the weather was poor which certainly did not help, but it seemed that very few visitors were aware of the upper end of Market Place or even how to find the Tourist Info Centre or the businesses located nearby. Despite the weather there seemed to be a resonable number of visitors to the market stall area itself.
I was under the impression that the event was to promote the whole village - not half of it!
What were the experiences of people attending the market? I for one will not be supporting the next event unless a better effort is made to encourage visitors to wander throughout the entire center of the village.
